Louisiana Real Estate License - Education Requirements
Sales License
Complete 90 hours of approved course work covering the following topics: Principles and Practices of Real Estate, the Louisiana Real Estate License Law, the Law of Agency, Commission Rules and Regulations and Civil Law pertaining to real estate in Louisiana and pass a course final exam.
After the course is completed, the student will then need to pass an exam administered by PSI with 70% or higher.
Broker's License
Complete 150 hours of approved course work. This course work must include a mandatory thirty hour broker responsibility course or its equivalent. The remaining broker hours may include a review of real estate principles and practices, electives in various real estate topics such as courses completed for a real estate designation, commercial brokerage, appraisal and other real estate related fields of study.
After the course is completed, the student will then need to pass an exam administered by PSI with 75% or higher.
Post License
Brokers must complete a 30 hour, state approved post license course within the first full year after initial licensure.
Four hours must include Trust Funds Handling
Salespeople must complete a 30 hour, state approved post license course within the first full year after initial licensure
Four hours must include Purchase and Listing Agreements and Addenda
Continuing Education
Every year a total of eight (8) clock hours of continuing education
Required: Fair Housing and Cultural Diversity - 4 hours (Must be completed in 2004 to renew for 2005)
Remaining four hours can be from general or prescribed courses
RENEWALS
All licensees must renew every year by December 31st.
