I want to buy a house, and with the declining prices, why won?t the realtor cut their fees?

You should look around for houses yourself, in the areas that you want to buy, then contact the realtor. You will cut some of the fees.

I?ve been doing that. Any other suggestions?

Checkout SPAM (http://realestateinsider.net). It’s a site where people put up their houses for sale without realtors. Without realtors, you may be able to find a better deal.

HUH? Great idea. Thanks for the suggestions. I saw the site, and it looks good.

Artuff, don't you find it strange that you are talking to yourself (Geoff)? You both have the same IP address and the odds of that happening on a forum this small are slim to none. Anyway I banned Geoff, you can keep the Artuff username if you'd like.

Please don't spread false information. Realtors normally charge the seller and not the buyer. The realtor has no need to cut his fees since you as a buyer aren't paying them. An agent to help you find a house works for free as far as it's concerned to you. You can try the for sale by owners, but you might end up paying more in the end and not having anyone to back you up (a licensed real estate agent).
