.com - commercial (business) website.net - network website.org - organization (not-for-profit) website.us - US (American) website

Everyone who answered is correct. If your asking how people view the site then having a .com is considered more "in", but at the end of the day it doesn't make any difference what the extension is, your browser will take anyone to any of them and Google and Yahoo will still index them equally.
