Whenever I search keywords on my site it usually shows up on about the 8/9th page. Can anyone tell me how I can score better? I've seen quite a few adverts selling services to do this but I have no idea which ones work and I don't have that much money to use on it. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your search engine results listing is directly related to how many links you have leading to your site, the site title and contents. The title and contents should have your primary keywords in them.For offsite marketing, put your site info into your Yahoo! Answers profile, participate in various discussion groups while having a link to your site in the signature every time you post a message, write articles for your own blog and/or submit them to sites like EzineArticles.com.
