I moved into this place on 20th of august and the lease states that the landlord will provide refrigeration and their maintenance advised them that the one in the home was working, so I have now lost all of my food. I have contacted them several times and not gotten any work done. I also was told they would be working around me and since we moved in the work has completely stopped what can I do?

Contact the department of buildings or whoever does residential inspections for your county. Look it up online; there should be a website with a contact phone number.

If it is in the lease they they would supply refridgeration, then they are liable....ask them to repair the fridge AND reimburse the lost food or you will get it fixed and deduct from next months rent...keep a good paper trail and record all conversations...

Consult the city counsel, make a statement and do it right away, they will help advise you properly.

If you have requested repairs more than three times in writing, within 90 days... you repair or replace with your rent money, just by sending a copy of the request along with the reciept.
I think you should contact an attorney and ask him to send a letter to your landlord. Usually it works, because no one wants to go to court especiall if its landlords responsiblility to provide maintenance to the tenants. But you should continue to pay your rent, because if you not going to pay he can file eviction suit against you.
