Check with a local lumber yard, not home improvement store in your area. They have more specialty connections than a home improvement store which deals mostly with popular products.

If Home Depot, or Lowe's, or Menard's has a 4x8-14 timber in stock, I will kiss your ass on the courthouse steps at noon and give you an hour to go draw a crowd.You have to find one of the disappearing real lumberyards that Home Depot, et. al. are putting out of business.Sure, if you find someone over 18 that wants to give you some service, they might say they can order one.Good luck with that.

You will have to make your fingers do some walking. Check your telephone directory and inquire from Lumber Yards. Lowe's can put you on to one of their suppliers.

Not sure where u live... but start with Home Depot, Lowe's, then if that fails...look up LUMBER in the yellow pages...good luck

Some lumberyards can order you material of this size . Most diy stores do not carry material of that size. You could take some smaller material and laminate to acheive this deminsion. The problem with you material is the length.Good Luck

you will have to get a 4x8x16' because 14' pieces are not common. just tell home depot or your local lumberyard that you want a 4x8x16 header. you will need to know if you want doug fir or redwood and they might ask if you want s4s which is smooth on 4 sides or if you want it roughsawn which is rough all sides. hope this helps.
