I have learned my lesson and want to start over but it is much harder then i thought it would be to get my credit back in shape. I was told I did not have a beacon score, me an my girlfriend are wanting to get married but i am worried my credit is going to ruin the little bit she has started an that wont help our future at all..so if any one has any advice, any thing will help...Thank You so much....Have a Great Day...God Bless

The most important thing for you to do is contact all companies you are in debt too and start paying back what you owe. If there are too many to get out of debt with right now, you need to choose what to pay off first. I would start with the smaller debts because you can pay them off quicker which will boost your score everytime you fix an account. Also, do not begin any new credit inquiries (car loans, credit cards, mortgages, ect.) because this drives your score down and raises red flags to creditors that says "I don't have enough money, I need more credit." Next, any accounts you have a monthly payment on right now.....pay on time or a few days early every month from now on. You are right that credit reports will not forget the past. That is why all of your tips are focused on what to do right now and in the future. As far as ruining your soon to be wives credit....you could avoid joint accounts right now, be honest with her that your credit is terrible and request her support in your efforts to raise your score. This will take years, but you will see changes gradually.
