Pick one you WOULD work for after you get your license, that way you already have an 'in', and you do not have to re-invent yourself.
First off, you get your license from the State in which you reside/work.As for which company is the best to work with, I prefer RE/MAX hands down!I used to work with an Ohio-based real estate company when I was a newly licensed agent, but only having 2 transactions in my first year of the business, I needed to make a change.Traditionally in the past, RE/MAX wasn't thought of to be a good place to start your career, as there is a desk fee to call yourself RE/MAX and that can be quite challenging for a newbie to make such an investment without the income. But, I'd say it is a great place to be... You have plenty of options for your real estate career: Go full-bore and be a self-sufficient agent or you can be someone's Licensed Assistant/Buyer's Agent - join a team!Consider this... When you are new in the biz, you don't have a lot of business contacts and certainly you don't have a line at your door for people that are looking for your new-found knowledge/skills. Join a team! The team-leader has been in the biz and is established with plenty of contacts, prospects, and clients. Use them and gain quick hands-on experience!Long story short: I didn't gain the full grasp of the business until I joined RE/MAX. From that point forward, it's been a matter of refinement to business.Oh and by the way... RE/MAX doesn't have a large corporate hand in your pocket either! (When I first was licensed, the company that I worked for took 55% of my commissions - yikes!)Good Luck!

Since most of the answers name "Remax" as the best company to go with - i would like to mention ERA. I am with ERA since about 10 years and i would never leave this franchise. I feel it is a great company to work for with a lot of support, a lot of great programs and working for ERA make me as an Agent feel like being in a big family.
