i found a private house for rent on craigslist. its 825 a month. however, it has no dishwasher or central air. im gonna try to talk him down to like 750. i make about 2200 a month. my girl brings home an extra 800. when i talked to the owner, he said i can give him 825 now and he would give me the key. then i just pay another 825 in august. so today im supposed to meet him and bring my paystub. now i call him today to confirm. now he is saying bring paystub and social security card. he did not mention anything at all about checking credit history.i am so nervous now that i wont get the apartment. i dont have a rental history but i do have a low credit score. i feel like i was lied to.

They check your credit rating and job paycheck history like any other bank would

they always check the credit history your not the only one. they have to save themselves bc if you dont have money or have a bad history then they loose out on money and so fourth. they check your bank accounts, your credit cards etc so if you have ever been late on somethign they will know.

He can not check your credit without your authorization. If he does, then he is breaking the law.

Most do check credit and they look for stuff like previous renting history, evictions and stuff like that. They look to see if you've filed for bankruptcy in the last year or so. I don't know where you live but $850 a month is alot! Especially for no dishwasher or central air. I just went through the same crap, good luck.

if this man is now saying this I would rethink this because I rent in Kansas and they never asked me for a credit check and so I would make sure it is a for sure thing always be careful Have you seen the place?
