All of the above informaton is good. Additionaly, I like to use contact cement. It works great on veneers and laminates.

Lastly, be sure and use some type of clamping system with the wood glue to keep the two pieces firmly together. Wood glue has excellent contact properties but it is much less effective if the two adjoining pieces are not firmly held to one another.
