Generally speaking you should get 3-5 estimates from quality, qualified contractors. Before inviting a contractor for an estimate, have a good idea of what you want. Have a list, some rough sketches or even an architect or drafter draw some plans. Most kitchen remodelers will do design work for you, but to insure the estimates will all be accurate from one contractor to the next you need to be very accurate in what you want. Also check the background of each contractor to insure that they are well qualified to do the work and have fair business practices.
