Nothing side-tracks a savings plan faster than the high costs of consumer debt. A Debt Management Program (DMP) can dramatically reduce interest rates, wipe out late fees and over-the-limit fees, re-age accounts to bring them current, and save you from your debtsJust take an onlne evaluation

You can do anything a debt payment agency can do. Long term repair of credit means changing your spending behavior and attitude toward money. Any person or group claiming to repair credit quickly is a scam. Poor credit takes YEARS to repair. The lower your FICO score, the longer it will take to get it to average. I strongly encourage you to obtain credit reports and scores from all three agencies (Equifax,TransUnion, Experian). You are entitled to one free report every year. To obtain your scores, you will need to pay a fee. Knowing your score will give you a point of reference. I believe the average credit score is about 675-680. Generally, to receive lender promotions-no interest for a year, etc- your score needs to be 720-750. If you have a score in the 400's or 500's, don't give up! I have seen scores in the 300's! An additional benefit to knowing what the credit companies have on you is--they can be wrong. If there are errors--fix them. If you have too many credit cards, build a budget and submit to each of them. Most will be interested in working with you, especially if bankruptcy is on your horizon. When you are looking at multiple accounts and high debt--look first at clearing your lowest balances..then roll the payment you were paying on that account to the next lowest balance, and so on. Being overly concerned with your interest rates will probably not help you in such a situation. I do not work for Dave Ramsey and have n vested interest in promoting him--but I firmly believe in the principles of his program. You don't have to invest a lot of money into his books, etc. Remember this as a rule of thumb--any agency that wants to charge you to fix your credit and/or manage your debts is going to drain you further. Use great caution. Best of luck!

hotwire199 gave you some good advice. There is nothing an agency can do that you can't do for yourself. You have to be willing to dedicate the energy it will take to get things on track. Just a little more than a year ago I was so derailed off the track I didn't think there was hope. Now I am back on track and been doing great. I had a FICO of 498 when I started. Now I'm closing in on 700. You can do it! Good Luck!

Poor credit doesn't take years to fix like was stated above. If you have enough money you can fix anything in this world (except for maybe love ;) ). I've seen scores under 500 go to the mid-high 6's in a matter of a month or two. Basically you need to fight everything that is wrong on your credit report and if possible get someone to piggyback you on high limit-low balance credit cards and of course lower the amount you owe to your creditors and keep all balances under 30-40% of the limit.
