A subprime lender is one who lends to those who's credit history isn't good enough to get a prime rate. By prime, it means the better rates. What this means is that the interest rate will be higher, making the finance charges higher. If on a mortgage, this higher interest rate will result in many thousands of dollars in additional interest over the life of a thirty year mortgage.Good luck.
