Google does not show my legitimate backlinks

Hi, By using "site:www.yourdomain.com" in Google you can see the number of backlinks that you have, but Google have never tended to show the actual number. Why? Because people checks the backlinks of a good ranking websites in their market, let's say page A, to get backlinks from the same pages, and like that they can over rank page A. Hope that helps!
